Quantifying carbon

Carbon accounting is the process of estimating the carbon sequestered and emitted in a forest system. Quantification of carbon sequestration in forests is based on the amount of carbon stored over a given time period. To express a quantity of carbon as a quantity of CO2, the carbon value can be multiplied by 3.67. The National Carbon Accounting Toolbox provides a set of tools that enables the quantification of the capacity of a forest sink.
