Quantifying carbon

Carbon accounting is the process of estimating the carbon sequestered and emitted in a forest system. Quantification of carbon sequestration in forests is based on the amount of carbon stored over a given time period.

Carbon credits

Forests planted post 1990 are carbon sinks and can be traded on this website. Carbon credits as defined by the Kyoto Protocol are one metric tonne of carbon emitted by the burning of fossil fuels.
